– Post-secondary graduate

Help make Calgary’s complementary currency grow! Calgary Dollars (www.calgarydollars.ca) support the local economy by promoting local businesses and turning hobbies into extra income and better communities. You will work with the Calgary Dollars Manager in our consensus-based organization located with 70 other groups in the Old Y Building. You will help manage events, funding, and operations.

CORE COMPETENCIES:
– Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
– Strong community development background
– Experience co-ordinating events
–  Pro-active self-starter able to work independently with a minimum of supervision
– Comfortable working within a consensus-based staff collective
RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                  
– Support Calgary Dollars events in the community
– Membership development & coordination          
– Outreach & marketing (promotions, website, mass e-mail, e-news, blog, Facebook, Twitter)

#2 ARUSHA CENTRE INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION

Contribute to community development and sustainability in Calgary at the Arusha Centre (www.arusha.org). You will work with the Arusha Centre Manager in our consensus-based organization located with 70 other groups in the Old Y Building. You will help expand events and awareness of Open Streets Calgary, Take Action Grants, and the rental management of Open Streets Calgary (www.openstreetscalgary.com) resources including bicycle electricity generators, soundsystems, buttonmakers, books and movies.

– Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
– Strong community development background
– Experience co-ordinating events
–  Pro-active self-starter able to work independently with a minimum of supervision
– Comfortable working within a consensus-based staff collective
RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                  
– Support Open Streets Calgary events in the community. Vehicle and licence preferred
–  Outreach & marketing (promotions, website, mass e-mail, e-news, blog, Facebook, Twitter)
