EcoLiving Events Ltd. is a registered not for profit corporation that has been active in Calgary since 2002. The organization started as a bridge between environmental specialists and innovators but has become a vehicle of positive environmental change. Initially the organization was completely volunteer driven but with growth comes the need for a more structured system.

This part-time contract position reports to the Executive Director and will perform a variety of tasks that support the growing and successful EcoLiving Events. Based in Calgary, the Administrative & Program Assistant will provide critical support to developing and implementing programs and workshops. We are looking for an individual who has the talent, aptitude and passion to grow with the organization and take on increasingly responsible tasks.
General Office Administration Respond personably to telephone and email inquiries with relevant information and materials Coordinate meetings including handling logistics, and assist with organizing special meetings
Outreach and Marketing Support Help develop marketing material for each of the upcoming events Work at various community events promoting EcoLiving Events Help develop hands-on workshops that will appeal to junior high school students Assist with development of newsletters and other outreach and marketing materials Encourage feedback about the program from community members and convey this to team members Update website and facebook sites to keep them relevant.

Information Management, and Reporting Maintain databases, spreadsheets, and documents that hold volunteer contact information (update lists that has been generated) Compile information required for various funders Generate reports (after each event), create timelines and lists
The ideal candidate: Should have a bachelor’s degree (Environmental Science, Environmental Design, Education or something similar) or working on this degree Has at least three years’ administrative experience, or related experience that demonstrates growth and the progression of skills and responsibilities Will be familiar with local environmental issues and have a passion to make Calgary a healthy, environmentally friendly city. Should be comfortable working with young people (junior high school students) as the first project entails workshop development and implementation for this cohort. Has excellent organizational skills and can set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines Is confident, Has a “let’s get it done” attitude and flourishes in a fast-moving, ambitious, entrepreneurial environment Has excellent writing and communication skills Is highly organized and detail-oriented. Discretion, good judgment, personal motivation and the ability to work both independently and as a team are particularly useful attributes for this role.
The Project Assistant will work closely with the Project Manager at an office in NW Calgary (Silver Springs). The role will require participation in the: Teacher’s Convention – February 14 and 15 Earth Hour in Calgary – March 23 AWA Tower Climb – April 20 Pathway and River Cleanup – May 4 At least 6 junior high school workshops
The initial contract is for 400 hours at $25 per hour. The position will begin on Monday February 4th. This role will require occasional weekend work.
