Giant Earth Ball Returns to Calgary Streets

In June 2002, L.A.Bridge Party designed and built this giant G8 ball. It was rolled out during the Community March to protest the G8 meetings that were taking place in the Kananaskis. The G8 ball rolled through the streets of the city and was unveiled in Olympic Plaza as a giant Earth Ball. The participatory art and political statement was a prominent part of the actions by Calgarians.

And now almost 10 years later the giant Earth Ball will be part of the Bow River Flow procession at 4 pm from 7 St NW on Memorial Dr. Revived by Katimavik volunteers the Earth Ball will once again be a prominent part of Calgary streets to symbolize the planet we need to be preserving, protecting and honouring.
4 pm tomorrow. Don’t miss it, participate in the people’s procession.
